Quick News Round Up and The Trophy Tour

Champions League, the draw for the quarter-finals, has taken all the glamour this week. The English teams were unlucky as two of them will exterminate each other while the Spurs will have to face an improved Real Madrid. The question is: Will these English teams focus on the prestigious European title and save the efforts away from the Premier League?

Moving on, Real Madrid and Barcelona are already set to meet twice in April. With the result of the draw of the Champions League, the world might see a third El Clasico in a 10 day span. If that happens, then forget about the excitement of any other league in Europe. The world will witness a mini tournament between two of the biggest teams in the World.

In the meantime, this weekend will conclude some decisive matches all across Europe before a week of friendly international fixtures.

Mario Balotteli was sent off again. As the wind of change is blowing at the City of Manchester, we might see him travelling to the other side of Milan. It is will be a miracle to see AC Milan playing the 2011/2012 season with Zlatan and Mario upfront in every game.

Eric Abidal underwent a surgery, after being diagnosed as having a liver tumor. Barcelona will miss the services of one of their best players of this season. With Maxwell and Puyol still sidelined, Guardiola might need to use Milito more often or Busquets has to “Volunteer” again for the role of a central defender.

Manchester United is suffering from an injury spell. Ferguson will be missing Vidic and Ferdinand for more days to come. The three point lead on the top of the table is in danger and Bolton Wanderers will be the first real threat this week after Marseille failed to live up to the hopes of “somebody.”

The Italian league has evolved into a Milan rivalry again. Internazionale has shaped up well and is just 5 points behind AC Milan. This week might decide nothing, but the week after, with an Ibrahimovic-less Milan Derby, the picture will be clearer.

The Barclays Premier League Trophy is on tour in the United Arab Emirates. The trophy is in Abu Dhabi from March 18 – 20, from 16:00 to midnight, in the Corniche Area. From April 1 till April 4, it will be in Dubai in the JBR – The Walk, area, at the same times. Later on it will move to Qatar and Saudi Arabia (full dates and story here). If I am a Chelsea fan that would be the closest I can reach it this season.
